For many years now, fathers have been dressing up in white beards and red suits around Christmastime in order to make their children think that the real Santa Claus has come down the family chimney. In olden times though, Santa Claus took great pains not to kiss his wife in the presence of children. It was Tommie Connor who wrote this song in 1952, and he was lucky enough to have 12 year old Jimmy Boyd record it. "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" sold nearly 2 million copies in its first year.
